GNU/Linux or is it (insert distro name)/Linux?

I'm trying to understand the whole GNU/Linux term. I know GNU is the software and Linux is just the kernel, but I am I correct to assume that if I'm using Ubuntu, the name would be Ubuntu/Linux and not fall under the GNU/Linux name or does all Linux based systems fall under the GNU/Linux term?
