Why do I make so many stupid mistakes?

I swear, I get all A's, can spell all my science terms and even my French vocabulary correctly, but ten minutes ago I just misspelled the word balloon. I spelled it "ballon"! I felt incredibly stupid, why do I make so many stupid mistakes?
